Hollywood’s Most Overpaid Stars

Drew Barrymore is the most overpaid actor in Hollywood, according to Forbes. Barrymore tops the list, which calculates how much money actors’ recent films make in relation to what they were paid. To qualify, each had to have starred in at least three movies in the past five years that opened in more than 500 theaters. Movies opening after May 1st this year were not included. Recent Barrymore films returned just 40 cents for every dollar the studios spent on her. Her 2009 film, “Everybody’s Fine,” earned only $16 million globally and her 2007 film, “Lucky You,” brought in only $8 million. Eddie Murphy is in second place. However, Murphy may be undergoing career rehab with a recent appearance on the cover of Rolling Stone, the announcement that he’ll host the 2012 Oscars, and Friday’s release of the new film “Tower Heist,” in which he co-stars with Ben Stiller. According to Forbes, the only way for Murphy to go is up. Two of his most recent films, “Imagine That” and “Meet Dave,” were box office bombs. For every $1 Murphy was paid, Forbes says those films returned an average $2.70. The Top 5 Most Overpaid Hollywood Stars:
