The
Occupy Wall Street movement passes the one-month mark today, and has
also reached another milestone – the once fledgling movement has raised
$300,000 in donations. Saturday was perhaps the biggest day yet for the
protests over income equality and corporate influence on politics.
Hundreds of thousands of people around the world rallied on Saturday,
from Pittsburgh to Rome. In New York City alone, more than 70 protestors
were arrested when a faction set out from Zuccotti Park in Lower
Manhattan toward Times Square. Meanwhile, nearly 200 protestors were
arrested in Chicago after refusing to leave a tent city in Congress
Plaza. Other demonstrations are going in from New York to Portland and
the movement shows only signs of continue growth. People are fed up as
the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
