Police
said they’ve interviewed relatives, family friends and neighbors of a
missing Washington State toddler, and, aside from his mother, no one
reported seeing the boy in the past two weeks. Detectives have
questioned relatives, family friends, neighbors — everyone close to the
family of 2-year-old Sky Metalwala, a Bellevue police spokeswoman said.
The last time someone recalled seeing him was about two weeks ago and
that was reported by someone who was not a family member. Sky was
reported missing on Sunday. The boy’s mother, Julie Biryukova, told
police that her car ran out of gas Sunday morning in Bellevue. She told
investigators she left Sky in the unlocked vehicle and walked with her
4-year-old daughter about a mile to a gas station. When she returned to
the car, Sky was gone, she said. Police have said they have no suspects
in the case but suspect foul play. The older child has been placed in
protective custody. The toddler’s disappearance came at the height of a
custody fight between Biryukova and the boy’s father, Solomon Metalwala.
They separated in March 2010 amid back-and-forth protective orders and
allegations of abuse and psychiatric problems.
