A Kelton Research survey for Tom’s of Maine found three in four adults have volunteered to help a charity or cause, averaging 46 hours per year. As far as what type of charity Americans most like to donate their time to, the majority, 17%, said animals. Poverty and hunger came in second at 15%, followed by 11% who volunteer their time to sick or ill children, 9% who give their time to education, and 8% who volunteer for the homeless.
