McDonald’s Apologizes For Pit Bulls Comparison

McDonald’s Apologizes For Pit Bulls Comparison
Pit bulls have gotten a bad rap over the years and are far too often associated with dog fights and violence, though that has significantly more to do with horrible owners than the dogs they mistreat. But the people at McDonald’s thought that pit dogs would be a good way to epitomize the idea of “danger.” The fast food chain had included “petting a stray pit bull” in a list of things riskier than “trying a new menu item at McDonald’s” in a radio ad for McBites, its new fried chicken entree, angering pit bull owners across the country. More than 8,000 fans of the dog breed joined a Facebook group called “Pit Bulls Against McDonald’s.” McDonald’s decided to pull the ad and offer a mea culpa. “We apologize for running a local ad insensitive in its mention of pit bulls,” reads a statement from the company’s official Twitter account. “We didn’t mean to offend anyone and the ad is being pulled.”
