McDonald’s Shamrock Shake Goes Nationwide - Excited or Not?

McDonald’s Shamrock Shake Goes Nationwide

McDonald’s extreme-green shamrock shake is going nationwide for the first time, the fast food franchise revealed. The leprechaun-colored shake is currently available at every one of McDonald’s 14,000 U.S. restaurants, according to company spokeswoman Ashlee Yingling. In the past, only select stores carried the shake around St. Patrick’s Day. The ice cream treat debuted in 1970, and since then McDonald’s says the shamrock shake has stirred up “cult-like” followers who crave its icy goodness when the St. Patrick’s Day season arrives. The shake even had its own mascot back at one time, named Uncle O’Grimacey, who spoke like a green Irish monster and extolled the virtues of all things green, including the shake.
