1,663rd 9/11 Victim Identified
The New York City chief medical examiner has made the 1,633rd identification of human remains from the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. The remains of Karol Ann Keasler, 42, of Brooklyn Heights, were finally identified Friday. “It’s been almost 11 years,” said Keasler’s younger sister Susan. “And after all this time, I had come to believe that things like this only happen on [the CBS show] ‘CSI.’“ Keasler worked as an event planner for investment bank Keefe, Bruyette & Woods on the 89th floor of the south tower of the World Trade Center. She was identified using new technology that can extract a full DNA profile from a small bone fragment. Of the 2,753 people killed during the terror attack on the World Trade Center, the remains of 1,633 have now been identified. Another 1,120 people were either not recovered or have not yet been identified.
