Killed In The Line Of Duty
Shootings outpaced traffic incidents as the leading cause of death among the nation’s police officers last year. The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund found that 177 officers died in the line of duty last year, up from 153 in 2010 and 122 in 2009. The good news is that the 122 in 2009 is down considerably from the 141 who were killed in the line of duty in 141.
