A Rolling Stone reader poll has proclaimed “We Built This City” by Starship to be the worst song of the 1980s – by a huge margin. “The Final Countdown” by Europe came in second and Chris de Burgh placed third with the ballad “Lady in Red.” According to the magazine, “We Built This City” was “what could be the biggest blow-out victory in the history of the Rolling Stone Readers Poll.” The rest of the top 10:

4. Wham! – “Wake Me Up (Before You Go Go)”
5. Men Without Hats – “The Safety Dance”
6. Falco – “Rock Me Amadeus”
7. Bobby McFerrin – “Don’t Worry Be Happy”
8. Toni Basil – “Mickey”
9. Taco – “Puttin’ On the Ritz”
10. Rick Astley – “Never Gonna Give You Up”

In the ‘80s, all of these songs reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, with many reaching No. 1.
