Homeless Science Whiz Invited To State Of The Union
Homeless Long Island teen Samantha Garvey will get a close-up look at President Barack Obama. Samantha is attracting nationwide attention as a semifinalist in a prestigious national science contest. She’s been invited by a New York congressman to watch President Obama as he delivers his State of the Union address next Tuesday. Samantha is a senior at Brentwood High School. She’s achieved academic success despite her family’s financial troubles and lives in a homeless shelter. Samantha hopes to be a marine biologist. She’s one of 300 semifinalists in the Intel science contest.
